Pick a Winner with Your Friends Using God Finger

Someone has to pay for dinner. Someone has to go first. Nobody wants to volunteer. If you’ve ever watched a group of friends stall for five minutes over a decision that should take five seconds, this app is for you.

God Finger turns that awkward standoff into a quick, satisfying ritual. Everyone puts a finger on the screen at the same time, and the app picks a winner — with a little dramatic flair thrown in for good measure.

I built this because I kept running into the same problem at group hangouts: every trivial decision — who gets the last slice, who draws first in a board game — somehow turned into a negotiation. I wanted something faster and more fun than rock-paper-scissors, and more trustworthy than “I’ll just pick a number.” A shared screen felt like the right answer.

The app, originally named 갓 핑거 in Korean, was designed with casual social situations in mind. But the core mechanic — everyone touches the screen simultaneously and the app decides — needs no cultural context to work. It’s immediate and it’s fair.

What it does

  • Single mode: All players touch the screen at once. After a five-second countdown, the app picks one finger with a gacha-style reveal animation and haptic feedback.
  • Team mode: Same touch mechanic, but instead of picking one winner, the app splits all the fingers into two balanced teams automatically.
  • Order mode: Determines a full ranked sequence from first to last — useful for board games or anything that needs a turn order for every player.
  • Ranking mode: After the countdown, players re-tap in their preferred order, and the app locks in a complete ranking from first to last.
  • No account, no internet, no nonsense: The app works entirely offline, collects zero personal data, and requires no sign-up or payment. Settings are stored locally on your device. Ads are served via Google AdMob, and ad personalization only applies if you explicitly allow tracking through iOS’s standard prompt.

It supports up to ten simultaneous touches, which covers most real-world group sizes. You can also adjust the countdown duration and vibration settings to fit the mood — shorter for impatient groups, longer if you want to build a little suspense.

This one is built for anyone who regularly finds themselves in a group that needs a fast, neutral decision-maker. Friends deciding who picks the movie, a family game night that needs a first player, coworkers splitting a lunch bill — the situations are ordinary, but having a dedicated tool for them makes the moment oddly fun instead of quietly frustrating. It works equally well whether your group speaks Korean, English, Japanese, or Chinese, since all four languages are supported out of the box.

God Finger is a free download on the App Store. If you’ve got an iPhone and a group of people who can never just decide something, give it a try — it takes about ten seconds to understand and even less time to become a go-to at your next gathering.
