Learn Morse Code in English and Korean

Most Morse code trainers teach English only. But if you’re learning to operate Korean ham radio, or you’re a bilingual learner who wants to practice both alphabets, you’re stuck using separate apps—or nothing at all. I built Morse Trainer: Korean+English to solve that problem.

I created this app because Korean Morse code uses a distinct 24-character set (consonants and vowels), and Korean amateur radio operators actually need it. Rather than build yet another English-only trainer, I decided to go bilingual from day one and put both character sets side-by-side in one app.

What It Does

  • Learn four character sets: English (A–Z), Korean (ㄱ–ㅎ consonants and ㅏ–ㅣ vowels), numbers (0–9), and punctuation (8 symbols)
  • Two practice modes: Visual mode shows animated dot/dash pulses before you hear them; audio mode plays authentic amateur radio CW tones (500–800 Hz, adjustable 5–30 WPM)
  • Smart flashcard quiz: 4-choice cards with instant color feedback. The app uses a lite spaced repetition algorithm to resurface characters you miss most often, so your practice time goes where it matters
  • Translator: Convert typed text to Morse or decode incoming patterns back to readable characters
  • Dictionary with search: Filter by category (English, Korean, numbers, punctuation) and search by letter or Morse pattern
  • Session tracking: Monitor your accuracy, time per session, and per-category progress to see which sets need more drilling

The app runs 100% offline with no sign-up, subscriptions, or paywalls. All your progress is stored locally on your device. You can adjust playback speed and tone frequency to match your hearing and radio setup.

Who This Is For

If you’re preparing for your ham radio CW license exam, you’re a Korean amateur radio operator drilling the Korean alphabet, or you’re simply curious about Morse code history and want to learn it properly—this app is built for you. Beginners will appreciate the visual mode and spaced repetition quiz. Scouts working on signaling badges, students, and hobbyists interested in the original digital encoding will also find it useful. And if you’re bilingual and want to practice both English and Korean alphabets in one place, this is probably the only app that does it.
