Learn Morse Code in English and Korean

Most Morse code apps teach English only. If you’re a Korean radio operator, a bilingual learner, or just curious about how Morse code actually works in different languages, you’ve probably noticed the gap. I built 모스부호 학습 (Morse Code Trainer) to fill it—a single app where you can learn both English and Korean Morse code side by side.

I started this project because Korean amateur radio operators use a completely separate Morse code system: 24 characters instead of 26, built from Korean consonants and vowels. Standard English-only apps don’t help them prepare for CW (continuous wave) operations. At the same time, I wanted to create something useful for anyone learning Morse code from scratch, without the friction of accounts, subscriptions, or internet dependencies.

What it does

  • Dual character systems: Learn English (A–Z), Korean (14 consonants + 10 vowels), digits (0–9), and 8 punctuation marks in one app.
  • Visual mode: Watch dot-and-dash animations to learn rhythm by sight before moving to sound.
  • Audio mode: Practice with authentic Morse tones (500–800 Hz, adjustable speed from 5–30 WPM) that match real amateur radio conditions.
  • Smart quiz: Four-choice cards with instant color feedback. Powered by the SM-2 lite spaced repetition algorithm, so characters you struggle with appear more often during practice sessions.
  • Dictionary: Filter by category, search by character or Morse pattern, and tap any entry to hear it and see the animation.
  • Converter: Translate text to Morse or decode Morse patterns back to readable characters.
  • Progress tracking: Monitor session accuracy, study time, and mastered characters. View breakdown by category so you know exactly what to practice next.

The app runs 100% offline. No sign-up, no cloud account, no internet needed. Choose between Korean and English UI, and it adapts to your device’s light or dark theme automatically. You can also adjust tone frequency and playback speed to match your hearing preference.

Who it’s for

If you’re learning Morse code for the first time, preparing for your amateur radio license, a Korean ham operator drilling CW operations, a Scout working toward a signaling badge, or simply interested in how digital encoding began, this app fits your workflow. It’s especially useful if you need both English and Korean fluency in Morse—a scenario most generic language apps completely ignore.

Try it on the App Store today. It’s free, and it works entirely on your device with no strings attached.
